Today we have a lot with 5 thousand square meters.
Now our dream is to construct the facilities, equip them and start working so that we can cover 20 thousand children that are malnourished, as well as breast feeding mothers and pregnant women and train the beneficiaries so that they can PREVENT malnutrition. NUTRIR OPENS A SECOND LUNCH ROOM AT LA PAZ NEIGHBORHOOD
On April 14, 2008, Nutrir Barranquilla, in Alliance with the Fútbol con Corazón (Soccer with a Heart) foundation at La Paz neighborhood, marginalized neighborhood of level 1 in Barranquilla, opened its doors to children that are part of the Soccer with a Heart program.
The study carried out by Nutrir indicated that only 26% of children reviewed presented adequate levels of nutrition, weight, height and development, while the rest, 73%, experience severe and slight malnutrition.
In view of the above the foundation established daily supply of snacks and lunches to reestablish the degree of nutrition required in order to maintain an adequate development.
THIRD NUTRIR LUNCH ROOM AT BARLOVENTO NEIGHBORHOOD
THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT, TO THE SUPPORT OF THE SPONSORS AND COMPANIES that have given us their assistance, donations and time, NUTRIR in the month of May of this year opened its doors to a new lunch room located at Barrio Barlovento at the Brisas de Río school.
At present the foundation serves a childhood population of 200 children and expects to provide coverage to 700 children who are experiencing severe malnutrition.
Carried out an initial investigation to determine the most severe cases of malnutrition for their immediate attention and cover the pressing needs of these children with advanced malnutrition. At present they are being served in the lunch room for their nutritional, physical and intellectual recovery.
FOURTH LUNCH ROOM AT LA PRADERA NEIGHBORHOOD
By agreement carried out in February with ICBF, NUTRIR opens the doors to its third lunch room at La Pradera neighborhood, serving 120 children of the Berea school, offering them fortified breakfast in accordance to children’s nutritional needs and in this manner improve their nutritional, affective and intellectual levels, which will allow them to become persons adapted to society and with a future.
FIFTH LUNCH ROOM AT LA CHINITA NEIGHBORHOOD
On November 8, 2008, in Alliance with FCC we initiated at La Chinita neighborhood daily nutritional supply to 200 children that are part of the FCC program.
This nutritional contribution consists in reinforced snacks that will allow them to obtain the energy necessary to participate in the daily activities that the foundation demands from them.
Thanks to the trust, transparency and quality offered by Nutrir we are part of this Alliance that will allow our children from Barranquilla to grow healthy and which will give them the opportunity to have access to an integral program of health and education.
NUTRIR’S SIXTH LUNCH ROOM AT LA PLAYA DISTRICT
On March 9, 2009 the Mega School Pies Descalzos started working in the La Playa District serving 1,700 children in the neighborhood. Proudly we want to advise everyone that NUTRIR is the foundation in charge of handling all the food to the children from pre-school to high school.
Pre-school children receive breakfast, snack, lunch and afternoon snack. Primary and High School children receive snack and a balanced lunch.
Thanks to this satisfying Alliance of Shakira, María Emma Mejía and Nutrir, Barranquilla will become stronger and our children will have access to a life free of hunger, violence and ignorance.
